We have lost a rare man.

Uncle George was humble, prayerful, and sober-minded. A quiet giant—never loud, never boastful, but always present with wisdom and warmth. The kind of person you didn’t just notice—you felt.

And that’s why we loved him.
And perhaps… that’s why God loved him even more. He saw it fit to call him home.

If there are people who truly leave a mark—on family, on community, on hearts—Uncle George was surely one of them. And I know I’m not alone in feeling this. He lived well, loved deeply, and inspired quietly.

Aunty, take heart.
You had a good man. And because of how he lived, we have every reason to believe he is now in a good place. It’s not unfortunate that life has a cycle—it’s by divine design. And just like birth, death too can be a bittersweet passage… if the life was well-lived.

SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO MR. GEORGE OUMA OLOLA
My heart is heavy today as I stand here to mourn the passing of a great man my former boss and mentor, Mr. George Ouma Olola. George was more than just a boss to me; he was a father and mentor who took chance on a young professional and gave me the opportunity to kickstart my career as the doors of Miran Insurance Brokers opened. I will always be grateful for the platform he provided and the belief he had in my potential. He created an environment where I wasn't afraid to ask questions or make mistakes, and in doing so, he fostered my growth and confidence. George's guidance was instrumental in shaping me into the professional I am today. I still recall the way he patiently guided me through many challenges and celebrated my successes, big and small. He taught me the importance of hard work and integrity, lessons that have stayed with me long after I left his team.
I remember with nostalgia how he taught me to write official letters; he would repeatedly correct my grammar and punctuation and choice of words for official communication / business English. George was proficient in letter writing an art i learnt from him and later perfected. One of my fondest memories is when he sat me down one evening to give me nuggets of wisdom and said ‘Mike learn to appreciate humble beginnings, you do not know what tomorrow will bring. You are in the right place and we will make it.” During the formative years of Miran, computers were now gaining prominence in most business operations, and we didn’t have much of a choice. George took me to one of his friends who had a computer college and sponsored me for a short course after which we bought our first desk top computer. For some reason he was not quite motivated to work with computers and always believed in his ability to memorise things, he had a sharp mind and would remember most of the things without reference to files or computer memory.
George’s impact on my life is immeasurable, when i got elected in the Board of Insurance Institute of Kenya, George called to congratulate and celebrate me. He made me feel that for sure i had achieved something great . I am a better professional and a better person because of his mentorship. His legacy lives on not just in the work he did, but in us the people he mentored and inspired. We will miss his leadership, wisdom, and kindness. George, we are physically detached through the cruel hand of death. Although physically separated, you tensing know our hearts forever. You insured my first car in 1997 and since then I have never had a reason to change insurer for my subsequent cars. You always serve me with a lot of respect. You gave a new perception of insurance which I had really lost trust in but with you as my only insurer, I have enjoyed very friendly insurance services either distinction. You have supported me to access premium insurance covers even when I didn't have cash at the due time. I was so impressed to see you grow from being an insurance sakes rep for so Asian in town to a leading insurance broker in town. Every time I walked to your offices in wetlands i got such a warm reception that is rare to find in many similar offices. Besides being smart at your work, you were also very passionate of your family. There's no single day we met and you never reminded me of how we were in laws from Butere where I also come from. Baba Lilian as we popularly called him at the Odera's was a very very great man. He was very warm, kind, friendly, welcoming and God-fearing. The outpouring tributes and love says it all.

I first met you on 22/08/2015 when you were culturally moving into your home (goyo dala). Since you were the brother to my husband's dad,I automatically knew that you are an uncle. My husband told me that in their home there's no uncle, aunt or cousin. You are either a father,mother, brother or sister. I then started referring to you as 'Fathee'. When you visited our home in Kapsoya-Eldoret accompanied by some family members for formal introduction of JoAlego meeting Jogem, you met my dad and that's how the two of you clicked. You maintained that friendship and in our home you were referred to as Baba Lilian. Each time we talked you never failed to ask how your friend is doing (referring to my dad). You ever called me by three names either Min Amor, Tee or NyarGem. Fathee I knew you as a very jovial person who liked fine things in life. You were ever willing to help someone in distress. I will miss you so much but I know your memories will live with us forever. Rest in eternal peace. Show less

George was a good mentor and as Miran insurance Brokers he truly supported us at Monarch Insurance Company. He advised us a recovery of the Company when the Company had really gone down. He was a great man full of wisdom. We will miss him. May his soul rest in peace. Show less
